Limitations
The I-DEAS Writer has the following limitations:
- File support
The translator can write only I-DEAS version 12 files.
- Unique file names
During I-DEAS translation, any existing I-DEAS files cannot be overwritten, hence every I-DEAS file should be given a unique name.
- Appending data in existing file
Before translation, a new empty model file should be opened in the I-DEAS session. Otherwise, translated data is appended to an existing, opened I-DEAS model file.
- Process locking
Process locking issues may occur when I-DEAS fails to clean certain files. Once these files are cleaned externally, this problem abates.
- The files that need cleaning include:
- .lck files in the same locations as the test files.
- Parts translated once to I-DEAS, whose .mf1 and .mf2 files from the earlier run have not been deleted. These files need to be deleted through the I-DEAS Data Manager.
