NX Direct Implementation Note

The 3D InterOp product suite provides both Direct translators and Parasolid kernel-based translators to perform NX Translation. For 3D InterOp Graphical, the specification between NX Direct or Parasolid-based NX translation is based on the presence or lack of pskernel.dll in the system path. If pskernel.dll is not found in the system path, the Direct NX translator will automatically be used. If pskernel.dll is found in the system path, the Parasolid-kernel based NX translator will be used.

Note: The appropriate current license key must be available.

Graphical Data

Graphical Geometry

The InterOp NX Graphical Reader Component reads tessellated data for faces and edges data. It reads the highest LOD for tessellated data stored in NX files.

Graphical PMI

The following Graphical PMIs are supported :

  • Notes
  • Dimensions
  • Datum
  • Datum Target
  • Roughness
  • Geometric Tolerances

Data types include text, mechanical symbols, polylines, and filled polygons.

Limitations

The NX Direct Graphical Reader has the following limitations:

  • Assembly level graphical data is not supported.
  • Workplanes and Datum Axes are not supported.
  • Features such as Layer, Hidden, Groups, and model view are not supported.
  • Attributes such Entity IDs and Names are not supported.
  • Free Points and free curves are not supported.
  • Only highest LOD (Level of Detail) will be translated from NX file.
  • Process-Specification, Enterprise-Identifier, Coordinate Notes, and Annular region are not supported.
  • NX specific fonts are not supported.
  • Attributes such as font and color are not supported for Graphical PMI.
