Before You Begin
Create an account, if you have not already done so. Select the log in/create account link at the top of any wiki page.
Step 1. Create a New Talk Page
Select the comments tab at the top of the page you want to comment upon. Once the new Talk page appears, you may begin entering your feedback.
Note: Ensure that your feedback is relevant to the page you are commenting upon. Inappropriate comments will be deleted.
Step 2. Edit the Talk Page
Simply begin typing your text; formatting your text is not necessary. However, if you want to format your text, you can use the edit toolbar at the top of the edit window or refer to MediaWiki's Most frequent wiki markup explained.
Step 3. Sign Your Contribution
Sign your contributions by typing four tildes after your comment (or use the Signature button in the editing toolbar; for example:
My comments.--~~~~
will look like this when the page is saved:
My comments.--Username 12:43, 17 March 2008 (MDT)
Formatting
When you reply or add to a comment left by another user in the Talk page, you should add a colon (":") to indent your reply. This improves the clarity of your statement when others view the thread on the Talk page.
My comments.--John 12:43, 17 March 2008 (MDT) :I agree.--Sue 1:07, 17 March 2008 (MDT) ::I have an example of my own to share.--Mark 1:30, 17 March 2008 (MDT)
will look like this when the page is saved:
My comments.--John 12:43, 17 March 2008 (MDT)
- I agree.--Sue 1:07, 17 March 2008 (MDT)
- I have an example of my own to share.--Mark 1:30, 17 March 2008 (MDT)
Step 4. Summarize Your Changes
Provide a short summary of the changes you have made to the page in the edit summary field box immediately below the edit window.
If you have returned to edit the page and the change you are making is minor, then select the This is a minor edit checkbox.
Step 5. Preview Before Saving
Before making your changes permanent, preview the page. You may edit your text and choose the Show preview button as many times as needed before you choose Save page.
